Relief Youth Care Worker - Shelter

General Position Description
Relief Youth Care Workers are responsible for service delivery to indivudual youth and their families living in the Transitional Living Services program and/or the Emergency S
helter during assigned 8 hour shifts. Responsible for supervision and positive interaction with youth. Morning, evening, and overnight shifts and weekends.

Working Conditions
Fast paced working environment.

Education and Experience
Minimum high school diploma; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Related experience and/or training in residential services for youth or equivalent combination of education adn experience. Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.

Additional Requirements
Must be able to establish trusting relationships with clients, be able to handle stressful situations, work independently, evercise initiative and accomplish tasks without continuous supervision. Position requires cooperatively with other members of the team, department and LifeWorks agency, communicating with clients, co-workers, volunteers and the general public clearly, curteously and effectively. Must maintain neat, well organized files.

Bilingual Counselor- Resolution Counseling

General Position Description
Provide group and individual counseling to court-mandated clients who have been identified as family violence perpetrators. Administer other client services such as: intake, assessment, treatment planning, contacting necessary collaterals, case management, evaluation and follow-up. Use strengths-based, client centered approach. Monitor program participants and maintain documentation of all services in accordance with program, agency and funding requirements.

Working Conditions
Office setting; may require travel to different sites, requires evening work.

Education and Experience
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field. Two years experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year experience in group counseling. Prefer lincensure for LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT.

Additional Requirements
Must be fluent in English and Spanish. Position requires excellent language/communication skills, time management, and organizational abilities. Must be proficient in general office software.

Case Manager- Home Based

General Position Description
Provides case management services to youth 16-21 who are in, or have aged out of DFPS custody. Coordinates services with other agencies. (Duties may include intake, case management, monitoring, facilitation of groups, and some counseling). Informs clients of all available options and make appropriate referrals as needed.   Maintains good relationships with community contacts including referral sources, such as representatives from Texas Department of Family and Protective Services , juvenile court, educational personnel and other service providers in the community. Administers vocational/educational assessments as needed or requested. Represents LifeWorks and the program with a high degree of professionalism in all dealings with clients and community professionals and by participating in inter-agency collaboration, community education, and public speaking, if requested. Maintains and protects client confidentiality. Maintains complete and accurate records and reports on all services provided.

Working Conditions
Position includes working from home and traveling to meet clients. Some evenings and weekends required.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from four year institution and 2-4 years related experience and/or training. Experience in case management preferred.

Additional Requirements
Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and have a vehicle available for daily use for performance of duties.

Instructor - GED

General Position Description
Full time GED instructor provides delivery and management of services and programming related to GED Program. Responsible for providing GED instruction and literacy training to students ages 16 to 26. Assists the Program Services Coordinator in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of GED program. Will work directly with an AmeriCorps volunteer and numerous community volunteers. 

Working Conditions
Classroom/office setting. Evenings required Monday through Thursday. 

Education
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; plus one year experience and/or training in an adult educational setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Teaching Certification in Secondary Education preferred.

Additional Requirements
Must be able to maintain client files and database with accuracy and attention to detail. Spanish speaking skills strongly preferred.

Prevention Specialist - Education/HACA Enrichment

General Position Description
Exciting part-time position for creative, organized professional to co-facilitate community-based summer camps and afterschool enrichment activities for middle-school youth living in public housing complexes. Position will also facilitate volunteer projects, family/parent events, and community presentations, provide mentoring services, and participate in community collaboration. Seeking team player with experience working with adolescents and youth with gang affiliations.

Working Conditions
Part-time position. Use of personal vehicle for travel to various school and community locations for service provision. Some outdoor exposure and ability to drive 15-passenger van required.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in social work, education, psychology or related field. One year working with adolescents (6th-9th graders) in group setting or individually OR equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Additional Requirements

Sensitivity to the developmental needs of and issues facing youth; ability to relate well to culturally diverse populations.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Maintains deadlines for required documentation, neat and accurate records, and flexibility with changing priorities.
